Vinohrady nursery under a three-metre ceiling
A twelve-square-metre room with original stucco and a deep west window held a cot too close to the radiator. We moved sleep to the inner wall, built a changing top on a low chest, and used the window seat for daytime feeding with blackout lined in the reveal.
Furniture spend landed near €1,650 excluding design fees. The family kept the existing wardrobe and only refreshed the interior rods to child height.
Karlín shared room for ages six and nine
Two beds along opposite walls left a centre path for a rug and a single desk under the window. A ceiling-track curtain gave the younger child a bedtime edge without a permanent partition that the landlord had refused.
Equal drawer banks and labelled hanging space stopped the older sibling from claiming the full wardrobe. Task lights on separate switches handled staggered reading.
Panelák play corner in Prague 4
The living room had become a toy field that blocked the balcony door. We set a low shelf spine, three labelled baskets on a trolley, and a wipeable art strip beside the kitchen pass so mess stayed near washable flooring.
The children's bedroom kept sleep and a small desk only. Evening reset time dropped from half an hour to under ten minutes according to the parents' note after three weeks.
Study strip in a Žižkov heritage flat
The bedroom was too short for a desk beside the bed. We placed a shallow desk on the quiet living-room wall, added a cable channel along the skirting, and scheduled homework hours when the kitchen was calm.
A hard floor mat under the chair protected uneven parquet. Pinboard and closed magazine files kept paper off the dining table.
Storage redraw without new carcasses
In a Letná panelák we kept the existing wardrobe shell and changed only internals: dual hang rods, full-extension drawers at child reach, and high shelves for seasonal bags. The budget stayed under €420 for fittings plus €360 for the storage plan.
Projects like this suit families who like their room colour but fight morning dressing chaos.
