Simple Kinship Rooms is a small Prague studio focused on children's bedrooms, nurseries, and play corners in real city flats — not show homes with empty floorplates.

Who founded the studio and why children's rooms?
Interior designer Marta Veselá started Simple Kinship Rooms after years of general residential work where the children's brief was always squeezed into the last hour. She narrowed the practice to rooms where sleep, play, and homework share a few square metres, and based the studio near Karlova so visits across the centre and inner districts stay practical.
Do you only work in heritage flats?
No. Roughly half of recent commissions sit in panelák estates where ceilings are lower and walls are load-bearing. The other half are Vinohrady, Karlín, Žižkov, and Letná interiors with older fabric. The method is the same: measure first, then choose pieces that clear the stairs.
Is the studio a large team?
Marta leads design and client visits. A part-time draftsperson prepares measured drawings, and trusted carpenters and assemblers are called when joinery or settle visits need extra hands. You will not be handed between account managers.
What languages do you work in?
English and Czech on site and in documents. Plans and shopping lists can be issued in either language. Email at [email protected] is monitored in both.
How is Simple Kinship Rooms different from a full-home interior firm?
We do not redesign kitchens or living rooms as a primary offer. When play spills into the living room we plan that zone, then stop. The narrow focus keeps fees and timelines tied to children's rooms rather than whole-flat renovations.
How we think about kinship in a flat
Kinship here means the daily ties between siblings, between parent and child at bedtime, and between the room and the rest of the household. A door that closes softly, a drawer a child can open, and a clear path for a night feed matter more than matching a catalogue scene.
We write those practical ties into the plan so the room still works on a Tuesday in February, not only on the day the last box is opened.

Studio correspondence runs from Karlova 25, 110 00 Praha 1. Most of the design work happens in your flat; desk meetings at Karlova are by appointment for reviewing drawings when a site visit is not needed.

Materials and suppliers
We mix European ready-made furniture with local joinery when a wall niche demands it. Safety certifications for cots and bunks are checked before they enter a shopping list. Soft furnishings are chosen for washability as much as colour.
We do not take hidden mark-ups on furniture; you buy directly from suppliers unless you ask us to coordinate a purchase for a clear coordination fee.
